Lean Cataract Surgery
With an ageing population, there is increased demand for cataract surgery, and this is expected to significantly increase over the next 20 years. This presents a need to evaluate current processes, and understand what improvements can be made to ensure that this demand is met with good patient outcomes.
In this presentation, Paul Mullaney, consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at Sligo University Hospital, introduces the concept of lean cataract surgery. Each stage of the patient pathway is discussed, including referral processes, pre-operative assessment and follow-up.
